Hi All, I think I may be getting fired soon. A little bit of a backstory. I joined a small company. The position was set for a senior or principle role, but the manager saw I was eager and he decided to take me on. I am not senior or principle level in experience. Unfortunately, everything I do seems to not be enough. I do think I do a decent job, but I do get consistent criticism and feedback. I appreciate the feedback too because I want to learn and improve, but some how I can't seem to get better or at least do it faster. I think I am going to be fired soon. There are many indicators but I wanted to hear what you think.
1) My manager has started documenting our one on one meetings via email as if to create a document to show the feedback he is giving me. 2) He often tells me that he does not trust me in my judgement or that no one wants to work with me. I think there are instances where I have made mistakes and I agree with those mistakes. I do not have the best relationship with one co-worker which I guess he is close with. Otherwise, I do not think that this is 100% true. I think I have involved my manager in too much because I have grown less confident in myself and he has nitpicked me - this has created a cycle in a way. 3) He tells me of my "inadequacy" is because I am new in the field or younger than all my coworkers. He has directly said the words "inadequacy" to me. I do have room to improve. This is a fact and I am not as great as my other coworkers. I do try my best and I do not think I am all that bad....I also don't want to be a bad employee. I genuinely try. 4) He calls my teammates to get feedback on me and micro-manages me. This is all very strange...
I feel sad honestly in my job. I don't like being in a position where I am not doing well and I also don't like being perceived as inadequate. I do think I am intelligent but maybe this just wasn't the right role. Would love to hear what you think.
