Feeling like I can't see the forest through the trees at my current job, would like some advice or feedback.
I work at a small, family-owned company in which I am the only sales person, estimator, customer service, etc. for a specialty construction company. I am the only one talking with clients, ordering product, doing inventory, receiving shipments, picking up special materials. I used to schedule all of the installations, however, the company just hired a new person to do that and to do new client intake type admin work.
This person makes more than I do, and I am training them, so that is something that I am struggling with. I feel like I am a huge part of the company and have only been there for 8 months.
A few months back, I suggested that they upgrade to a new CRM and scheduling software instead of using Act! and Google Drive, along with Microsoft Office for all admin work. It was a lot of redundant tasks and no one was ever on the same page. I did LOTS of research and found a CRM and scheduling software that seemed like it would be a much better fit than our current one, and they agreed to try it out.
We paid the startup fee since they had tens of thousands of individual customer records (dating all the way back to 1995...) and were very specific in what they wanted. Since then, I have been the only one making any efforts in changing things over, CREATING (not just exporting) a full price and services list to import to our new program. My bosses just nitpick over verbiage, font size, and the fact that it isn't exactly the same as their old program.
I know that change takes time, and a lot of bosses are very resistant to it, but I am struggling with this uphill battle, lack of appreciation (not to mention making less than the assistant that I am training), and being in charge of a complete overhaul in the system simply because I suggested it.
I love this company and the work they do, and my bosses are genuinely great people, but I think they are stuck in the way things have been and can't see any other way working.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could convey this respectfully, or change my perspective on my current woes in order to make it through going live with our new program? Thanks!
