... Or something
So about 4 months ago I started a new job. It's a company that's been around for 20 years selling medical equipment, and previously they only had generic sales people in the position. However they started seeking out candidates with a background in the medical field to actually know what they were talking about when training on the equipment. Being a registered nurse looking to change fields, I applied and got the job.
I enjoy learning and growing, but I have noted a few things: - My qualification is regularly used as a marketing pitch to legitimize the company and sell products, whilst my actual clinical experience is not regarded. I really hate this. - the pay is a lot less than what RNs actually make and the company seems reluctant to increase it. - the company has no structure. People are hired on short contracts and released when they don't meet the standard. Yes employers have the right to do this, but this happens a lot. I was almost released because I didn't appear "enthusiastic" enough - the boss demands total devotion to the company and its cause - he told me the job must take priority over anything else in my life. I'm a firm believer in balance so this was a red flag to me - My particular positon has such a high turnover - 5 people have been in this position in 3 years!
I'm grateful for the experience I'm gaining, and my colleagues are lovely and I know my boss means well, but I'm seriously thinking about whether this was the right decision.
Any advice? Am being crazy?
