A colleague from another organization with whom I’ve partnered very closely on many projects called me up the other day and told me that he’s leaving his job. He recommended that I apply for his position, a higher paying position for which I would be fairly qualified. Since he and I have a fantastic working relationship and he recommended that I apply for his job, would it make sense for me to list him as a reference when applying for that job? Or is there a downside to listing him that I’m not aware of?
