Hi all just after some advice. Basically I'm an electrician and have been unhappy with what I do for a while, the possibility of a change in career has come about but I don't know weather to go for it or not. The new position is teaching the electrical NVQ and although I am only young (29) I feel I have sufficient knowledge and skill to be able to do it but a few things are standing in my way namely;
The company I work for is owned by my two best friends from school and I have been here since the company started so feel a sense of loyalty towards them.
I don't want to lose my friends over this (possible)
I like being an electrician in general but I hate the work I am doing at the moment, it's all social housing work and I am an industrial electrician by trade.
I just don't know what to do, the money in the new job is exactly the same with the chance of earning more plus the guy is willing to pay for all my teaching quals free of charge whereas here there is no real progression, I've been promised a higher role time and time again but other people keep getting the job over me (I think that they don't want to lose me on site as I like to think I am very good at my job but that's another story altogether).
I appreciate this is a bit of a ramble of a post but have just tried to put everything down as it came to mind (cue jokes about me wanting to be a teacher after writing this) and have tried to write it all down. Long story short I feel a sense of loyalty to my friends that I work for but a new opportunity has arisen that I'd like to go for. Advice appreciated!
