Around a month ago I applied for an easy dishwasher job at some italian restaurant. This was already among a dozen job applications I'd sent out. Not only did they take forever to get back to me, but the recruiter called me at 9pm at night.
Now, mind you, I had already been hired somewhere else far before this. Somewhere that was way more punctual and professional than this restaurant. But I was surprised enough about the recruiter was calling so late that I was at a loss for words. I gave the caller an awkward apology and explained I was already hired elsewhere. (Hadn't said where at though.)
Didn't go out of my way to thank her for the consideration and maybe I should've? But..... it's a dishwasher job? Can't exactly say I was thrilled to take it in the first place. I'm somewhat worried I insulted the caller? Because she emailed me about "not being able to hire me at this time". Uh, no duh?
It seemed like such a strange thing to send, when I'd been the one to decline them, not the other way around. Did I goof here? I don't like my legal name having bad associations with it, if I can help it. Is there a more proper way to decline interview offers? But seriously, what business calls around 9pm at night?
