It seems so dodgy to be already. The company I work for does videos and it’s b2b focused.
I’ve been working for them as a “video marketer”. There is no position on the market that’s called video marketer. I do SEO analysis and improve their online presence to reach new clients. Basically Marketing Communications Executive, but they keep me under a “Video Marketer”.
3 months in and they change my contract to “contracted work”. Salary is £300 a week. The responsibilities I do are nothing to do with Video marketers.
It started as an internship in Marketing Communications through university but something seems shady.
The job description doesn’t really state anything narrowed and straight to the point. It’s 3 sentences with some broad information.
They are currently recruiting a business development manager. It’s the same story with the job description. The person is going to end up being thrown files and documents at him and do something completely different like cold calling.
I feel I totally played myself with this company after quitting my full time job where I was getting more money to pursue my passion. This ended up into not doing what I had to in the first place and now having no transferable skills and in a completely new industry. I worked in banking, changed to media and the company seems to be playing games.
To summarise: They ask for a lot to do and then pay only £300. The company does videos and their deals with clients are always different. I was supposed to be a marketing communications intern and then executive. Turns out my position name is VIDEO MARKETER to keep me off the market. I started looking elsewhere, but is there anything I can do to change my position name. There is no Hr. We are 10 people.
