I have an awareness of career mentors generally, but I am not actively seeking one and never have. But, in a nutshell, I met someone through a work event that took an interest in me for whatever reason. One thing that he took particular interest in was whether I had a mentor.
I do not have a mentor, but we exchanged contact details and he has now reached out by email. Through our discussions at this event and the tone of the email, I think I have an opportunity here.
To boot, he works in a related field in a position several steps above mine (I didn't know this when I met him) and I don't doubt that I could learn a lot from him.
So, should I seize this chance and how should I approach going about enquiring and setting this up? What would be the expectations from me? Any advice would be appreciated!
