Hi all -
I recently accepted a temp job after moving. I’ve had a rough time finding a job for someone of my qualifications and took a temp gig well below my qualifications, but at a really cool company. I’ve been there about a week and I hate it. The recruiter asked me to give it a try, even though it was very junior. (It May to turn to full time if I blow them out of the water.)
My managers onsite haven’t spoken to me much at all, and when they do it’s to tell me to stop taking initiative and toe the line. (For example, asking someone to include a piece of info on an invoice.) I did not get introduced to anyone at the company, and spend most of my day asking for more to do since I’ve finished all the job duties. (They also haven’t emailed the recruiter back at all - they had asked for feedback on how I was doing. Still no answer.)
The company is very cruddy in reality, as they let me sit and work while they all went outside to the patio to eat cake and watch movies. I wasn’t invited because I was a temp. Everything I do and say isn’t right, and I spend a lot of my day being corrected for inane things.
I called the recruiter, who told me to stick it out longer.
Advice?
Also, do I give notice first to the recruiter, or the manager?
Thanks!!
